The Ladies Room Gives Back Foundation
The Ladies Room Gives Back Foundation is a non-profit (in progress) organization that’s sole mission and goal is to help keep music alive in our schools and hearts.
Our mission is to help raise awareness on how music is related to both Alzheimer ‘s and dementia diseases. To that end, our goal is to help keep music alive in our schools by donating profits off what we’ve raised during events to help further educate student about music.
Did you know that the average cost for a comprehensive K-12 music education program is only about $187 per student? If it’s so cost-effective, why are the music programs the first to be cut when funds are low? A study, funded by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), shows that it’s fairly economical to keep music in schools as long as the funding is balanced.
Music has power – especially for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. It can spark compelling outcomes even in the very late stages of the disease. When used appropriately, music can shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function, and coordinate motor movements. As individuals progress into late-stage dementia, music from their childhood, such as folk songs, work well. Singing these songs in the language in which they were learned sparks the greatest memories.
You may apply for this Scholarship if you are looking to to start and/or develop your artistic talents. If you or your music organization would like to apply for The Ladies Room Give Back Foundation Music & Arts Scholarship, please contact us at tlrgbmusic.
We support our foundation and its mission, by hosting fundraisers and through donations from community businesses and residents via product/clothing/monetary. For the past few years, The Ladies Room Gives Back Foundation have hosted Annual Back to School Fundraisers "Fashion Shows" then donated a portion of the proceeds and boxes of school supplies to "The Peoples Resource Center" in Wheaton.
Since then, we’ve decided to do something a little different. We decided to have a "$20.00 BLUE BAG Fundraiser" with all the clothing donations throughout the year then donate the profits to the winning schools music department.
How did it work? For every bag purchased, shoppers would simply drop their favorite school's name in the bucket. At the end of the day, we tally up the names and announced the winning school. All DuPage County School's Music Department was eligible to win. Grades K - College.
